The Penza Federal High Technology Center is the first of 15 centers, which will be opened this year in Russia. More than 2 milliard roubles were spent for the construction of the clinic.

The centers are being constructed according to the so-called "modular system", with the finished blocks.

The Federal Agency of Public Health and Social Development is appointed the state customer of the construction of Federal High Medical technology centers. ZAO PETROMED, as a subdivision of the Holding Company PETROMED, acts as the subcontractor of the project and it is carrying out works for delivery, assembly and commissioning of the medical equipment for the high medical technology centers. PETROMED also will undertake training of the medical staff in the work with the new equipment.

The supplied equipment included about 13,000 units, including approximately 100 units of heavy equipment.

The list of suppliers of medical equipment is impressive, these are ÌàSIEMENS, Germany GE, USA OLYMPUS, Japan GETINGE, Sweden VITAL Scientific, the Netherlands ROCHE, Switzerland SOERING, Germany Johnson&Johnson, USA Viasys Healthcare Inc, Great Britain M.C.M. Environmental Technologies Ltd., Israel VERNIPOLL, Italy.

From the state contract, on fitting out of the center: "The Federal Center of Cardiovascular Surgery is intended for providing highly qualified cardiosurgical aid for the patients in planned order. The center is calculated for simultaneous stay of 167 patients, including 150 adults, (6 unified ward sections for 25 (twenty five) beds), united into three departments of 50 (fifty) beds and 17 children (one department for 17 beds). One 4-bed ward of intensive monitoring and care fitted out with special equipment for rendering (if necessary) emergency medical aid and special devices for care of the patients is provided in each ward section for adults and at the ward department for children. The total number of beds for intensive monitoring and care at the center is 28.

The center has several medico-diagnostic and auxiliary services making it possible to use widely in practice modern methods of diagnosis and treatment. The operating unit includes five operating theatres and the necessary number of auxiliary, technological, sanitary-hygienic and other rooms. Somewhat increased area of the operating theatres provides the use of modern high tech devices and medical equipment during the operation. Two of the five operating theatres are angiographic ones. Twelve beds at the department of resuscitation and intensive therapy are located in four wards (three beds in each).
In addition to monitoring of vital functions of the patients, the post of a nurse on duty is provided in each ward. The set of rooms at the department makes it possible to locate the required kits of devices and instruments for carrying out resuscitation and intensive therapy. The clinico-diagnostic laboratory is able to perform the wide spectrum of general clinical, cytological, hematological, biochemical, immunological, coagulologic, immunoferment and other tests.
The rooms for X-ray diagnosis with the help of methods of roentgenoscopy and roentgenography, computer tomography, ultrasound examination methods, magnet-resonance tomography are provided at the department of radiological diagnosis".

The high technology medical aid includes operations on the open heart, transplantation of the heart, liver, kidneys, neurosurgical interventions in patients with brain tumors, treatment of hereditary and systemic diseases, leukoses, severe forms of endocrine pathology, surgical interventions of high degree of complexity. This is one of the main directions of the national project "Health", which implies increased financing and its more effective use, construction of new clinics and also introduction of the system of "waiting sheets" for "transparency" of the queue for obtaining the high technology medical aid.
